Dressing Stone: A note on the title

Why this title? For some, the turn of phrase makes no sense, for others—for people familiar with tools, and most commonly for stonemasons and sculptors—the phrase is both a noun and a verb. Here we are only referencing the verb, we are only interested in the process.

Definition:

Dressing stone is defined as the process of giving a proper size, shape and finish to the roughly broken stones as obtained from a quarry.

Definition as used in the novel’s title:

Dressing Stone is defined as the process of ultimately obtaining a proper size, shape and finish to the protagonist’s broken hearts as obtained from the quarry of a roughly managed or ill fated lovelife.
